Busy, busy, busy

We are ALMOST unpacked!! :) Raymond, Cheylyn, Davia, Jase and Abriauna were here this past weekend so we had to make room for them to sleep and for the kids to have room to move around in the apartment. This meant that we had to unpack a majority of the boxes in preparation for their visit. We still have a bunch of boxes to unpack, but it's getting there.

We're still down to one car after Brian's recent accident.  I've been just hanging out at the house since he's been driving my car. We'll have to get a rental soon though because I've got plans....

Tomorrow is the much awaited wine tour with the Tulpy ladies... Jay and Jess will be here Friday night/Saturday morning and then we'll have Jada for a bit... Monday or Tuesday I head to Delaware for a beach trip with the family and will be there for a few days... then I drive my dear old dad home to Montrose from the beach and then I drive back to Reading... Friday Matt and Melissa arrive and we go to Six Flags!!! :)

See? Busy, busy, busy :)

Since I've been car-less it's been hard to get the things done I've wanted to do this summer.  But I still have a few weeks, so there's still time. The whole stuck at home thing does help with getting meals planned and prepared and the apartment in order.

Brian's been working as much overtime as possible to help save up money for the future and to pay off credit cards, which means we don't have a ton of time to spend together. :( Hopefully things will start to settle down once mid-August hits. Speaking of quality time.... it's time to hit the sack :) Night all!

Ouch...

Today I hit my head.  In the bathroom.  On the towel rack. I'm really not sure how it happened, but I have a goose egg. On my forehead. From the stupid towel rack.

Personally, I think it's because I am sleep deprived. Why, you may ask? Because my husband tried to kick me out of bed ALL night last night.  And I mean literally KICKED ME.  On my leg.  No goose egg there though. I even woke him up and asked if he was okay. I figure this man I married, who promised to love me forever, couldn't mean to be kicking me, right? He must have been having a bad dream.  Wanna guess what he said when I asked him if he was okay? "Mmm hmmm" Yeah, he said mmm hmm, which is good. So then I asked him if he knew he was kicking me.  Guess what he said this time! "Mmm hmmm", yeah he knew he was kicking me. And I think he liked it. I thought about asking him if he wanted me to go sleep in the other room, but I didn't because I was afraid he'd say "mmm hmm" and then I'd have to go sleep on the couch or the air mattress.

Eventually, 8:30 rolled around and my darling kicker husband got up to play his game give me some room and I slept for another 2 hours. :) See? He does love me. When I managed to get out of bed he confessed that he had been having a dream that he was hogging the bed.  Turns out it wasn't a dream, sweetheart! <3 Anyway, I'm still tired.  I made the bed up in the second bedroom for just in case that dream returns tonight. :)

Good thing about the kicking? Brian felt so bad about it that he reorganized the kitchen. :) We never had enough counter space in the old place so we bought shelves for this kitchen and he put them together and to use today. <3 Such a good husband. :) We need to finish organizing the living room and hang stuff on the walls, but we're getting there!

Next project? Second bedroom...

Home again

After a great week in Seattle for Thomas and Jessica's wedding

and a week on the beach in Hawaii

we're finally home :)

It was REALLY hard to leave Hawaii yesterday, but Brian kept reminding me that he had to go back to work so we could pay off the vacation.  Neither of us got sunburns, which anyone who has seen our pasty white complexions, knows that THAT is a miracle. Thank you SPF 50.  I did come home with a nice tan though. Well, nice for me.

Our flights went well as well and we learned that it pays to be nice to little old ladies because the flight attendants will give you free drinks if you buy food for other people! Thomas and Jessica's wedding was BEAUTIFUL and went off very well.  Unfortunately for the outside service, it did rain, but they made it work and everything was perfect. We all stayed in a house in Bellingham and had lots of time to catch up with all the cousins.  Including Rich and Sarah, who we hadn't really seen since their wedding two years ago!

Even though our flights were slightly delayed, our trip to Hawaii went off without a hitch as well.  The house we stayed in wasn't exactly what we expected and we had to drive to get to an accessible beach, but we barely noticed.  One word of wisdom here, double check your reservations and what's included before you go through Home Away.  We had a few surprises in the house, but it all worked out. :) We spent a lot of time on the beach but managed to pull ourselves away for a day at the volcanoes.  No live eruptions or flowing lava, but it was a good day.  Pictures are on my Facebook if you're interested. :)

We flew home yesterday and just like last year, I'm convinced I'll never get back on a regular schedule.  Hawaii is six hours behind the East coast, so even though it's almost 3 o'clock, my internal clock says 9 am.  Not so good for getting up and motivated in the morning! The apartment is still in desperate need of organization and such, but we'll get there... eventually.

We're heading up to Susquehanna County this weekend to see the family and for me to go to a baybee shower on Saturday.

Oh, did I mention it's TWENTY DEGREES HOTTER HERE THAN IN HAWAII?! Yeah... not too happy about that one.

Oh, hello!

Yeah... so it's been a super long time since I updated this.  Nothing new and/or exciting to report, school's out for summer (yeah... you know you just totally sang that and if not, you are now. Welcome!) the love of my life and I are going on our second honeymoon soon ;) AND we just moved.  The new place is amazing.  Two bedrooms, 1.5 bath, beautiful.  It has fewer windows than the old place, but I can deal with that.  Less windows to clean, right? We haven't even touched unpacking yet and probably won't until after vaca.  We're pretty much living out of wash baskets and off leftovers.  :)

The Aldrich parents were here Monday through Wednesday to help move, clean, and unpack what was necessary.  I'm not sure how we would have ever gotten it all done without them! B and I are almost done cleaning out the old place as well.  We're doing the last run through today with Al and hopefully he'll tell us we've gone above and beyond what needed to be done and they'll give us allllll of our security deposit back.  Security deposit = money to pay off the vacation!

I (wrongly) assumed that once summer started we would have more time to veg out together, me and my hubby.  Not so much.  He's working killer amounts of overtime and the new place is going to keep me busy 24/7.   We are trying to get together with high school/college friends, but we're all so busy. Sad.

Well, time for me to get my butt in gear and head out to Target to get a bunch of new exciting stuff for the apartment!

  8. made this list
  9. discussed the lock in with students who were there
  10. read other people's blogs
  11. updated this blog, twice now
  12. took my whistle for a walk to show other people that I had rediscovered it
  13. talked about assisted suicide with a coworker
  14. checked my email several times
  15. searched for a rental car for both Hawaii and Seattle

  20. read pregnancy stuff since I know so many people who are preggo

I guess it's time to actually get some sort of work done.....

One month!!!!

Good morning, kiddos! (yes, that's how I start my classes EVERY DAY) On the way in to school this morning, I realized that exactly one month from today is the LAST DAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!!! Wooooot woooooot! For me, this means a lot of things...

1. I have a whole bunch of stuff to get through in the next 23 days. Such as 4-Sights today and tomorrow (or maybe Wednesday), the entire novel To Kill a Mockingbird, at least one unit in my 1st, 3rd, 6th and 7th period classes (two if I can), and a whoooollllllle lot of grading! OH, and final exams... writing them, proctoring them, grading them.

2. Seattle and Hawaii are getting ever closer! No, not literally. The land masses are not moving.

3. My darling husband and I have been married for almost a year.

4. I need to get my but in gear on the whole cleaning out my classroom thing. Every year I do a little less. The first year, I made sure EVERYTHING was off my counters and all the desks and tables were washed. This year (my fourth year, for anyone out there that is counting) I think I'll make sure that everything on the counter is in a box and labeled so when the custodial staff move it to clean my counters they'll know where to put it when they're done.

5. We need to start packing up our apartment! We're moving in a month and 4 days and there is a lot A LOT of stuff we have to do between now and then.

Okay... enough list making. I'm feeling a whole lot of witchy today. I don't know if it was the altered sleep schedule we were on this weekend or what, but I'm not really fit for human interaction today. Hence the 4-Sight testing in all my classes. If all the cherubs are testing, I don't have to deal with any drama. And let me tell you, this is a drama filled class!

On an exciting note, we booked our flights for the big vaca last night!!!! :-D Aren't you excited?! We even managed to get a nonstop flight from Philadelphia to Seattle on the way out. The other flights have at least one stop, but that's a really good thing. Let's just hope I'm not sick this time around!
