I guess it's time to actually get some sort of work done.....

One month!!!!

Good morning, kiddos! (yes, that's how I start my classes EVERY DAY) On the way in to school this morning, I realized that exactly one month from today is the LAST DAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!!! Wooooot woooooot! For me, this means a lot of things...

1. I have a whole bunch of stuff to get through in the next 23 days. Such as 4-Sights today and tomorrow (or maybe Wednesday), the entire novel To Kill a Mockingbird, at least one unit in my 1st, 3rd, 6th and 7th period classes (two if I can), and a whoooollllllle lot of grading! OH, and final exams... writing them, proctoring them, grading them.

2. Seattle and Hawaii are getting ever closer! No, not literally. The land masses are not moving.

3. My darling husband and I have been married for almost a year.

4. I need to get my but in gear on the whole cleaning out my classroom thing. Every year I do a little less. The first year, I made sure EVERYTHING was off my counters and all the desks and tables were washed. This year (my fourth year, for anyone out there that is counting) I think I'll make sure that everything on the counter is in a box and labeled so when the custodial staff move it to clean my counters they'll know where to put it when they're done.

5. We need to start packing up our apartment! We're moving in a month and 4 days and there is a lot A LOT of stuff we have to do between now and then.

Okay... enough list making. I'm feeling a whole lot of witchy today. I don't know if it was the altered sleep schedule we were on this weekend or what, but I'm not really fit for human interaction today. Hence the 4-Sight testing in all my classes. If all the cherubs are testing, I don't have to deal with any drama. And let me tell you, this is a drama filled class!

On an exciting note, we booked our flights for the big vaca last night!!!! :-D Aren't you excited?! We even managed to get a nonstop flight from Philadelphia to Seattle on the way out. The other flights have at least one stop, but that's a really good thing. Let's just hope I'm not sick this time around!

PROM!!

I forgot to put up Prom pictures!!

Things that I hate...

  • when students need to cough, but instead of coughing that make that weird hacking noise
  • having to sit inside on a sunny day like today
  • giving the 4-Sight test after Reading, Writing, Math and Science PSSAs aren't even a distant memory yet
  • hiccups
  • Facebook not working at work... boo
  • grading

And things that I love...
  • babies
  • dirt pudding (the kids brought me a HUUUUGE cup of it today and instead of pudding it has delicious mousse)
  • sunshine <3
  • my husband, duh
  • my funny kids (students, that is)
  • sneezing... yes call me crazy, but what is more satisfying than a good sneeze? :)
  • strawberries
  • AVOCADO!!
  • that this list is becoming food related
  • the cute things my husband says about random things

Today is a good day, because my loves are more numerous than hates :) But it's only 10 AM so that could change.

I never knew..

that avocado was SO delicious! How did I not know that?! I think I learned this on our honeymoon in Hawaii when I had an avocado on my hamburger.  We've been in love since then, me and the avocado. I just ate half of one and would have had more if 1. there had been more here with me at my desk and 2. it didn't have three trillion times the amount of fat I should be having in a snack. I love avocado.

Anyway... I spent my downtime yesterday reading this woman's blog about her battle with infertility. SCARY. I don't want to not be able to have babies! The good news is that she now has a one year old and is all happy and such, but it's still CRAZY to think about. I love babies, maybe even more than avocado.

We got to spend yet another weekend at home this past weekend. (wow, that sounded redundant and repetitive... hehehehe...) My stud of a husband shot two sets of 20 at the trap shoot so he was very happy. :) Dad got his first 25 straight for the year as well.  I've also decided that I'm going to start packing a bag for all trap shoots... sunscreen, bug spray, a cooler full of yummy (non-alcoholic) drinks, and maybe some snacky things.  We all get hungry over there and thirsty, so it's a good plan.  And it makes me feel needed. :)

I wish I had more avocado right now. It has lots of fiber, ya know!

Speaking of food... free lunch in the cafeteria today for Teacher Appreciation Week... woot woot. That means I get to budge in line in front of all the little 7th and 8th graders.  Which makes them oh so happy.  I think I'll opt for the salad bar.  That's usually a safe bet. (Holy choppy sentence structure, batman!)

Other exciting things going on... I'm working on my third 3 credit class for my permanent certification! I really should have started working on it a long time ago, but I am the queen of procrastination!

I should go work now... mid-quarter is Friday! So I need to have my grades updated by then, which I totally don't!

Count Downs

I realized something this morning as I was feverishly working on one of my classes for my Instructional II cert.  I do a lot of thinking while I'm supposed to be working on that class, most of which has NOTHING to do with the class.

Here's what I realized...

I am wishing my life away.

I constantly have a countdown going on whether I admit it to myself or not.  Currently I'm counting down to the last day of school (29 school days, 42 calendar days), our anniversary (51) and the vacation.  And those are only the dates I'm actually physically COUNTING to. That doesn't count the countdown to starting a family or to buying a house.  When my birthday starts to get close, as in 3 months or less, I start counting down then as well. I am wishing my life away.

So what can I do about this? I'm really not sure. I've tried to NOT count but it's still in the back of my mind.

:sigh:

On an unrelated note, the sun is shining today and I am very excited to go home this weekend. The boys have a trap shoot at Halstead, which means we can go to breakfast in New Milford on the way.  That is if I can convince dad to wait for us and Ian to get up early enough.  He seems to feel the same way I do about getting up early. I'd rather skip breakfast than get up 10 minutes earlier.

Brian and I have started the full plate diet (http://www.fullplatediet.com/ ) and it's not going too bad.  The goal is to have 40 grams of fiber in a day, we haven't quite gotten there on a consistent basis yet though.  It's only quarter of 10 but I'm at 9 grams right now. I probably won't get to 40 today just because I'm having pasta for lunch.  My recommendation if you're going to do a fiber full diet, AVOID FIBER ONE BARS AND KASHI UNTIL YOU ARE USED TO THE ELEVATED FIBER!! They will make you feel not so great if you rush it. (and then you'll be rushing to the restroom) Start with Arnold's Double Fiber bread and a whole lot of fruits and veggies.  You need to get your system used to the fiber first before you overdo it.

As we near the end of the year, I've started counting the number of kids I'll be seeing again next year... it's depressing.

It is officially official... we have dates set in stone for this summer's excitement!!

  • June 14th-Moving day!!
  • June 19th-One year anniversary <3 and Emily's grad party
  • And then two weeks of vacation!! :) (if you really need to know the dates, I'll tell you.  But my husband would kill me if I posted that on here. Did you KNOW that you can just read random people's blogs here?!)
There might also be an Adams family vaca in there as well :) Yay summer!
